Machakos GovAlfred Mutua Heads to Court over Azimio Document

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is headed to court claiming the Azimio coalition party refused to give his Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party a copy of their agreement.

In a tweet on Friday, May 6, Governor Mutua said the Raila Odinga-led outfit and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) had refused to disclose the copy that MCC signed when the coalition was formed.

He said it was unfortunate that his party was in a coalition whose members needed court orders to get their rights.

“@MCC_Party has in today’s Governing Council meeting decided to go to court & demand to get the document so as to see what changes have been made, if any. It’s unfortunate that we’re in a coalition relationship whose members have to go to court to get what’s their automatic right,” Mutua tweeted.

The MCC boss wondered about games the coalition party was playing with his party adding that the party will make a decision on plans by Azimio to zone aspirants.

“What games are they playing? On Monday, May 9th, 2022, the party will make a decision on the way forward bearing in mind the plans to zone our party aspirants out and the deadlines set by law,” Dr Mutua stated.

Governor Mutua added that his party had been operating in good faith but the same was not reciprocated by Azimio.

The  Machakos governor added that there was a clear indication that aspirants in Azimio parties will be denied their democratic to be on the ballot.
