Deputy President William Ruto has promised sex workers in Mtito Andei a whooping Ksh 1 million should he succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 General Election.
DP Ruto’s promise came was after the sex workers appealed to him to speed up the Hustlers Empowerment Fund to enable them to switch careers and pursue more respectful ventures.
Ruto asked the commercial sex workers to form a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) through which he will deposit Ksh.1 million to help them realize their dream of getting into legit businesses.
While drumming up the support for his Bottom-up Economic Model, the deputy president said the move will enable millions of ordinary people to earn a decent living.
“The Bottom-Up Economic Development Model is keen on promoting inclusive and sustainable growth through a robust framework that will foster enterprises in our country. This will enable millions of ordinary people to earn a decent living,” William Ruto.
This comes exactly a month after the deputy president said his government shall set aside Ksh 34.8 billion annually for hustlers (small businesses) if elected the fifth president of Kenya.
During his tour in Awendo town on Saturday, September 25, William Ruto said his government shall be setting aside KSh 120 million annually for each of the 290 constituencies to help small business improve their fortunes.
“I have been told off for helping hustlers in my campaigns, but as an economic agenda, I will set aside KSh120 million annually in each constituency in the country when elected just to help boost businesses of hustlers,” Ruto said.
William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga who are considered to be the front runners in the 2022 presidential race have been popularizing their economic agenda to woe voters ahead of the 2022 elections.
The former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has on several times said that through his ‘Azmio la Umoja,’ poor families will be entitled to a KSh 6,000 monthly stipends to bridge the poverty gap in the country should he ascend to power.
