ODM Fires Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi for being Disloyal, Working with William Ruto

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has fired Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi from his position as county party chairman.

While confirming the changes, the ODM party leadership accused the governor of being disloyal adding that he lacks solutions to the problems affecting Coastal people.

“Kingi is not the first (politician) to run away from the ODM, neither is he the first person to betray me. I’m used to being backstabbed. Kingi has no solutions to the problems facing the Coastal people. I’m thinking power has gone into his head,” Raila said as quoted by the Standard.

At the same time, the Leader of the Orange Party has appointed Ganze Member of Parliament Teddy Mwambire as the new acting ODM chairman for Kilifi County.

“I have already asked ODM officials in Kilifi to ratify the decision appointing Mwambire as the interim chairperson,” Raila Odinga added.

It is understood that Kingi has been at the forefront in pushing for the formation of a new political vehicle that would bring on board politicians from the Coastal region in a bid to have a big voice ahead of the crucial 2022 General Election.

Last week, the former Prime Minister began scouting for a crop of new leaders in a fresh bid aimed at crafting a winning in the 2022 presidential elections following his fallout with former NASA co-principals.

It is understood that Raila Odinga is now banking on new faces since a majority of county bosses serving their final constitution terms are likely not to be so influential as compared to their first term counterparts.

Raila has identified six second-term governors, influential first-term governors, Members of Parliament, members of civil society, and businessmen a group he believes will form the next government.
