Police officers in Migori are holding in custody three men suspected of gang-raping a woman in last month.
Mark George Nyameanga, Stephen Ogunya Osogo and Jack Okoth Girago are said to have been positively identified in connection to the May 25 incident in Suna East sub-county.
Police reports on Wednesday indicated that following a close probe into the case, the trio was linked to the hideous crime and will now be arraigned.
“Utilizing one of the oldest suspect-crime link methods, local detectives conducted an identification parade on suspects who had been nabbed, and the ID parade turned out positive,” read a statement from the National Police Service (NPS).
“Suspects are currently being processed and shall be arraigned to answer for their savagery.”
While condemning the distasteful act, the multi-agency body exuded confidence that the victim and her family shall get the justice they deserve.
“Crimes are evil. And some crimes are notoriously evil! It’s such a crime, loosely called ‘Gang Rape’ that victimized one female survivor at the hands of three (3) men,” NPS stated.
“To the survivor of the SBV, we stand with her and, her family and loved ones, and shall ensure we afford them all timely justice through the system.”
