The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has assured that all is set for the August 9 General Election.
IEBC vice chairperson Julianna Cherera disclosed the last batch of Presidential Ballot papers will arrive in the Country on Wednesday even as she insisted that no extra ballot papers will be printed.
She announced the commencement of distribution of all strategic materials to the counties for use in the poll.
“All the remaining materials including the remaining presidential ballot papers that are being printed in Greece will be in the country by Wednesday” she added.
Speaking during the daily press briefing from Bomas on Monday, Cherera said the commission was on top of things, pledging to make the process as transparent as possible adding that information technology experts from various political parties have been allowed into the warehouses where the KIEMS kits are being assembled.
She however dismissed a clip doing rounds on social media purporting to be that of Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed in communication with an alleged IEBC official.
“Any communication should be from IEBC. We also have our official social media platforms therefore we disassociate ourselves from the viral clip doing rounds online” she told journalists.
To ensure equality, IEBC has launched an application where voter education material has been interpreted for those with hearing issues and braille for the blind for easy consumption.
To further build public confidence, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati says he plans to announce the Presidential results during the day.
On the early closure of schools, the IEBC deputy chairperson hailed the decision as timely to pave way for the preparation of polling centres, most of which are in primary schools across the country.
