Hussein Dado, Danson Mungatana seek political comeback in Tana River

Former Tana River legislators Hussein Dado and Garsen MP Danson Mungatana are seeking a comeback after years in the political cold.

Hussein Dado served as Tana River’s first governor and was trounced by Godhana Dhadho in 2017 while Danson Mungatana lost his Garsen seat in 2013 and has been unsuccessful in recapturing it.

The duo is seeking Governor and Senate seats in Tana River County on a UDA ticket and were joined by other party aspirants to campaign for DP William Ruto’s presidential bid in the county.

Speaking during a political rally at Hatata Primary School Grounds in Mororo, Dado urged the residents to support and vote for Ruto come August 9 saying that he is best suited to take care of the interests of the county.

“The UDA government is going to implement the bottom-up development model. The sign of the wheelbarrow means that we can empower those who are pushing them to put food on their tables,” Dado said.

“We do not want to keep talking about the past as our competitors. We are looking at the future and the person to take us there is William Ruto,” he added.

Mungatana urged the area residents to vote for all UDA candidates seeking elective seats in the General Election.

He said that it will be easier for the leaders to work in the same government than to work in opposition.

“Your senator can not serve you well when he is not on terms with the president. This is why I urge you to vote for our party leaders and so that we all form and be in Government,” Mungatana said.
